The Future of Braking

Tribol Braking is dedicated to two things: shorter stopping distances and next-generation materials technology. That passion has driven us to spend over eight years developing the world’s first fully composite brake pad, redefining what high-performance braking can achieve.

Working alongside leading academic researchers and industrial experts, we’ve combined advanced composite materials inspired by the space industry, with race-winning friction compounds. The result is a revolutionary brake pad engineered to deliver exceptional performance, durability, and consistency - now ready to be fitted to your caliper.

Innovation Drives Progress

At the heart of our innovation is a patented composite brake pad backplate that is over 70% lighter than traditional steel and up to 100x less thermally conductive. This significantly reduces unsprung mass without requiring any changes to your vehicle setup, while dramatically improving thermal insulation to help prevent brake fluid boiling, even under the most extreme racing conditions.

While our current range of high-performance brake pads target three key shapes, this is only the beginning. Click the links below to discover how you can help shape Tribol Braking’s future, and learn why our lightweight composite brake pads are setting a new standard in motorsport braking technology.

Dr Sam Erland
CEO & Co-founder, Tribol Braking

Dr Sam Erland is the CEO and Co-founder of Tribol Braking. With over a decade of experience in the composites industry, Sam has worked across both aerospace and automotive sectors, specialising in the practical challenges of manufacturing advanced composite materials at scale.

His background sits at the intersection of materials engineering and real-world application – bridging the gap between what composites can do in theory and what they can deliver in demanding environments.

That focus ultimately led to the creation of Tribol Braking, where Sam applies his expertise to bringing high-performance composite solutions into braking systems – an area long dominated by conventional steel.
